Building Walls…

In life, I’ve learned that not everyone who offers to listen is truly a friend. I’ve realized that not all who stand by you actually want to be there, leading me to keep things to myself—my feelings, my secrets, my aspirations. I erected a barrier between myself and the world, for my own sake and for the sake of others.

Yet, if there’s one valuable lesson I’ve grasped, it’s that erecting barriers allows you to encounter the finest individuals. Because for someone who truly desires to understand you, no barriers will stand in their way. Not the tallest nor the most formidable. If someone seeks to know you and earn a place in your life, every wall will fall, and they will do whatever it takes to stand by you. As for the rest? They will retreat. That’s why I’m thankful for the invisible walls I’ve built around myself. They may have limited the number of people in my life, but I am assured that those who remain will be with me to the end. That is something I am content with.
